How to Make a Cake Pop Costume
If your kid loves cake pops from Starbucks as much as mine, they’ll love this sweet cake pop costume. It’s easy, affordable, and can be turned into a themed family costume. Just wear green aprons and add name tags for the barista look!
Materials You’ll Need To Make A Cake Pop
- 2 large foam domes for the “cake pop” (one goes in the front and the other on the back)
- Pink or any color paint or spray paint for the cake pop “flavor”
- Large cardboard / drop cloth to protect surface from spray paint
- White pearl beads or stickers
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- White ribbon (not too thick in width)
- All-white outfit (for the cake pop stick)
Instructions On How To Make The Cake Pop
- Grab the two domes, large cardboard, and spray paint. Spray paint the inside and outside of the two domes and let air dry. Two coats might be necessary for the outside of each dome.
- Once dry, scatter the pearl beads or stickers across both domes. Make sure to alternate and evenly space the beads. Use as many beads as you like. If using the pearl stickers, add hot glue as well to reinforce.
- This is an important step and can be done in two ways. Take the white ribbon and glue it onto the inside circle of the dome on both sides closer to the top. Think about the person wearing the costume and their size, where the cake pop will hang on their shoulders, etc. Grab the person wearing the costume and decide where to glue the end of the ribbon, leaving enough room for the cake pop to slide off the person’s head. The other option is to cut two ribbon pieces about 12 inches in length. Attach one end of the ribbon to the inside of the dome that will hang in the front and do the same to the dome that goes on the back. Repeat for the second strand of the ribbon. Then, cut the ribbon in half on both strands and tie the ribbon into a bow on each side. This option will be easier to adjust the height of the cake pop and also to take on and off.
Styling The Cake Pop
Put on a white shirt and white pants and wear your cake pop! You want to wear a solid-colored outfit so that the cake pop stands out to resemble the stick. It can be fun to coordinate with family and friends and pair the costume with baristas, a variety of coffee drinks, or related coffee items.
Cake pops come in a variety of colors and designs, so be sure to personalize yours the way that you like. This costume is great for Halloween, parties, and school events. If you make yours, make sure to share your sweet creation!
